STUDY IN POLAND

There are several reasons why Poland is hot destination for international students. Some of these benefits are analyzed below :

  • LOW EDUCATION COST
The strongest advantage of Poland against its competitors in education provision lies in tuition and living costs. As shown in the figure beside, the annual tuition fee for an Arts course in Poland averages at about €3,500. Most British HEIs charges on average                £12,000 per annum  for a similar course.
To conclude that tuition fees in the UK is 4 times more than prevalent rates in Poland may not be further than the truth. Put differently, what an international student pays per annum in the Britain  can cover the cost of  a 4 year degree programme in Poland.

MAINTENANCE COST: Accommodation, feeding and sundry expenses, make up the maintenance costs and these are relatively cheaper in Poland than other European countries. A room costs between €100 and €200 per month in Poland.  About €250 may sustain a student for a month too.
But the British embassy advises Nigerian prospective students wishing to study in the UK to budget about €678 per month or €7,000 per annum,  as maintenance funds.
Therefore, budget education cost is a singular factor that readily puts Poland as the number one destination choice.

  • LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION:
Poland is a central European country and a member of the EU. Poland is also a member of the Schengen countries.  Schengen visa makes it possible to travel to all Schengen member states with one valid visa.
Most HEIs in Poland have been welcoming International Students in large numbers.
Nigerian students have been studying in Poland as far back as the 1960s and this number is growing day by day.
Amongst senior civil servants, politicians and technocrats in Nigeria are former graduates that studied in Poland.
Prospective students wishing to broaden their horizon should check this destination out.

  • VERSATILE CURRICULUM
As a developing country, the demand for skilled labour will remain consistent in the Nigerian economy.
Poland as a destination choice for quality education in technical/engineering courses is at par with other Western nations.
Moreover, other trendy global courses like Tourism and Hospitality, which may be new curricula in Nigerian HEIs are also competently covered by Polish universities.

Graduates from disciplines like Architecture/Urban planning, Transport Mgt., etc, are new competences  modern Nigerian cities require in high numbers.
Given that Polish HEIs are poised to deliver competitive multi disciplinary courses, the diverse demands of Nigerian students are met comfortably.

  • LANGUAGE OF STUDY:
Most HEIs in Poland recruits international students and make provisions for courses to be taught in either Polish or English languages. Prospective Nigerian students intending to study in Poland need not lose sleep over language barrier because the option to study in English language is available.
Of courses, there are Polish courses for international students that are interested in the Polish language.

  • VIBRANT CULTURE
John Godson MP
According to Prof. Chalasinska-Macukow, Poland is being projected as: “a modern and dynamic country full of life-time opportunities for young people willing to get quality-based education, improve skills and boost experience.”
Warsaw is one of the capital cities in the EU that is rich with history. There are landmark buildings and architectural edifices that date back many centuries. The city centre is a beehive of culture statements.
Krakow is an education hub located in the southern part of the country. Its Jagiellonian University, for example, is one of the oldest universities in Europe.
Lodz is another city renowned for being an International students centre.
Meanwhile, the reality of John Godson MP as the 1st black person in the Polish parliament is a strong testimony of the new Polish culture. Incidentally, Mr. Godson is a Nigerian who travelled to Poland to further his education. He is the current President of the African Institute in Poland.
So, prospective students will not only have a lot learn while in Poland but will also feel at home and have fun.
